It’s cold this morning – I’d really rather be drying paintings in some hot sunshine.

Volcanic Sunset – with raw ochre
Volcanic Sunset
This was painted in France in 2008 and was inspired by the striking effects of the volcanic ash from the Icelandic eruption. It’s one of a series painted at different times of the day.

Volcanic sunset
Oil on canvas, this was painted in the South of France during the time of the Icelandic volcano, the air seemed to move differently, almost to roil at sunset and the lack of jet aircraft was astonishing.
